Why is academic integrity important for health professionals?Living a mindful life full of integrity is important to me because I believe it creates an internal happiness that gives me a sense of wholeness and pride. When it comes to academics, integrity is essential. People deserve the credit for their discoveries, and we all need to pay our respects to them by acknowledging their work. Student's should show appreciation to every mind and/or idea; and if we do, we can create a friendly atmosphere to collaborate and learn collectively. Not only that, but by owning your own work, you will learn from your mistakes or get credit when earned. I believe that academic integrity will deepen and improve quality of learning, teach management and communication skills, show work ethic, improve overall grades, and develop a skilled and honest professional. |
What I learned from the academic Integrity student tutorial
I was given the opportunity to engage in an academic integrity student tutorial and learned some great tips on how to be a student with academic integrity. By having good time management, students can reduce the risk of accidental plagiarism or misrepresentation. I learned that academic misconduct usually is the product of lack of knowledge and shows the student does not understand the content. I also learned that integrity doesn't only mean being honest in my work and giving credit to others, but it also means trusting in the exchange of ideas and learning with others. Academic integrity creates a safe environment of colleagues to educate and share with one another. So, by having academic integrity, I will learn to my fullest, create a network of friends and colleagues, and hopefully set up a strong foundation in becoming a successful and hard working professional.
